GEnder-affirming mental health care
Individuals exploring their gender identity or expression, preparing to transition, or entering a new phase of actualization may benefit from a safe and supportive environment to develop their resilience, continue to build community, and enhance self-acceptance. Dr. Moses is experienced in providing mental health care consistent with WPATH standards of care. She is also happy to provide evaluations for letters in support of gender-affirming medical care.
sexual orientation exploration
Individuals with new awareness of romantic or sexual attractions may want to explore their orientation in a culturally-competent and judgment-free setting. This can be helpful for addressing internalized homophobia, fostering identity acceptance, learning how to connect with the community, and planning how to come out to their existing social circle. Additionally, some individuals benefit from addressing concerns about how their orientation may conflict with their cultural or religious upbringing.
Stigma, discrimination, and trauma in the LGBTQ+ community
Members of the LGBTQ+ community are statistically more likely to be exposed to trauma. In our society, there is also a great deal of discrimination toward the community both at the person-to-person level and at the larger society and policy level. The Center acknowledges this reality and aims to help individuals address and minimize the ongoing negative impact these experiences can have on them.
